Week 3 *LATE*

Hello! Welcome back to my blog, this post is SOOOO late, but I have to post it. Ok, so this post is a random post about ranting ;) (please help me)

1st Rant: Ok, so I loVe tomatoes, yes? Right so pretty much, I love tomatoes, they are my everything, not even lying. I love them in salad, on bread and just eating them.. BUT (there is always a but) I CANNOT STAND TOMATO SAUCE. EW! I don't know if it is just me, but I find it nasty. It tastes very like sour or something. I usually love sour, just not on my sausages. Right but the issue is, I hate tomato sauce, but I like it on my sausages. No, it's not my favourite on sausages, but I can deal with it (kind of).

2nd Rant: Pluto. The "Star", WHY IS IT A STAR (I'm looking at you NASA)?! It's a Dwarf Planet, if you don't believe me google it >:(. Pluto is a Planet!

OK, So um I think we're done. I can't think of anything else to rant about so byeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Oh yeah, quick question.. Do you rant about anything? If so, comment it!

Space Geeks! Episode 2, Sam's Plans!

Hello my lovely people! Welcome back to Space Geeks with Cleo!! Today we have a guest star, Sam my partner in crime, fellow space geek, passionate Harry Potter fan, and best friend! Today I am going to do a very short post, Q&A style. So grab your favourite plushy and keep on reading!

Q. Why is Neptune one of your favourite Planets?
A. "Because its got rings, like everybody else, except for Earth, Mars, Venus, Mercury. *breathes heavily*"

Ok Sam, thanks for that..

Q. What are your plans when you get into NASA, if you get into NASA?
A. "I mean, go up to the ISS, duhhhhh"

Same here sister

Q. If you had to colonise a planet, what planet would it be?
A. "Mars, just because its the closest planet right now"

Same again

Q. If you named a star, what would it be?
A. "Wait what are you asking again..? Oh I wanna name it Freeshavacado if its shaped like an avacado c:"

Nice answer..

Q. Would you rename any planets?
A. "Hmm, definitely Uranus, well that depends on how you pronounce it"

Yep

Q. Out of all the former NASA astronauts, what one would you want to meet?
A. "I can't meet Neil Armstrong cause he's dead, but if you're gonna revive him then yes! But if no then Chris Hadfield"

Alright thanks Sam!
Hope you liked this episode of Space Geeks! See ya next time! BYEEEEEE!

Space Geeks! Episode 1, Guide to the Galaxy

Hello! Its me Cleo! You probably know me from my other cheesy posts, but this one hopefully won't be too cheesy. I am doing something new, I am going to make a new "series" I guess. It's going to be about space stuff. I am passionate about space, so I guess I could be a space geek, so what better name! Welcome to Space Geeks! Episode 1 is going to be a Guide to the Galaxy! Get comfy with your favourite plushy and enjoy!

So first off, this is an accurate(ish) size over all our Galaxy's: 52, 850.0417 light years. Wow. So just push that aside, we might need that for later. Now I know many people get very confused as to what planets are in order, what goes where, what planet that is, ya'know, the usual. Now I'm just gonna do a quick run down on what order the planets are in, and a cheesy rhyme that I'll make up, which will probably take me around 52, 850.0417 light years (hehe see what I did there? Hehe.. no.. ok..). The Sun (dun dun duuuun),  Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars (my personal favourite), Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus (pronounced: your annus) and of course, Pluto (not a planet anymore :c). Did you know, 50 Supernovae are detected every year? A Supernova is a star that suddenly grows in brightness and eventually explodes. There are actually some that have been overdue for quite a while.. like 3 billion years or something. So Mars, NASA has landed 6 rovers on Mars, and according to research (a quick google search of "Space Facts", sorry I disappoint most people to be honest), there may be life on Mars.

Now if you agree, I would like you to comment "Agree" if you disagree I would like you to comment "Disagree". Now as promised.. I will make a rhyme about the order of the planets..
The Sun goes first, Mercury next, Venus, Earth, Mars the best, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus too, and Pluto who is dissed.
Sorry about that.. -.-

Ok well, I hope you enjoyed the first episode of Space Geeks!
See ya next time,
BYEEEEEEE!

Swimming!!

HEY GUYS! Its me! Hopefully you know who I am.. um.. ok.. WELL, If you don't know who I am, I am Cleo. Sorry I didn't post on the first week of school, I was debating on posting it, but I figured it was a bit late. But I have new tea to spill. So sit down and get comfy for cups to break!

So to start off we got to get year 1/2 buddies from the Kakano Hub. Home base one (my Home base) got Miss Bailey's class, I have a buddy named Honor, who is very sweet. When we got to QE||, the swimming pool, we got separated into our groups. The year 1/2's got put in the small, warm pool, and the year 7/8's went into the cold big pool. The swim instructor asked which people were comfortable swimming 50 metres or over. I went into that group. On the second day we got paddles for our hands. The year sevens did a test on how to survive if you were in the ocean. Basically we did normal stuff until Thursday, cause we got Flippers! I swam probably overall 1.k at school swimming on Thursday, then I probably did another kilometre at swimming after school, yes I had 2 swimming lessons. By Saturday I was so drained and I felt like a board. Good training guys!

Pretty much I had a very tiring week and now I'm drained, and next week I have to go and do it all over again this week. Alright now, Goodbye see ya next week!

Lip Scrub Sells FAST!

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because… We (a) did research (b) thought it through (even if we had different ideas) and (c) there were MnM’s on the line
Click here to see my Tech Template

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this… LIP SCRUB!!! The two (delicious) flavours were Lovely Lemonade and Brilliant Bubblegum (yes the names are Cliche but they definitely lived up to their names). And this is a picture of our group, I am the girl who is crouched down beside the blonde girl (The other team members were shopping at the time and no, we did not pick our groups)

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was… Creating the lip scrub, it was very very fun and the best part was eating it at the end!

Next time I would… probably try and talk more I just played the music and went shopping at the other stands. I also think next time I would help more with the lip scrub flavours, I.E: help decide more on the flavours, help a bit more. But other then that I wouldn’t have changed anything.

PBL!

Hey. Sup. Hello. It's me your looking for. *Still singing* Actually it's probably not, but stay here anywaaaaaaaaaays. Today we are discussing my terrible singing- No, I'm kidding. We are discussing PBL, aka Project Based Learning. In PBL we are doing a Market, and my teams name is.. Team Unicorn Nuggets! Weird. Anyways read on to find out about our Market Day!!

In our Market we are going to be selling lip scrub, but not just any maple syrup lip scrub, actually good flavoured lip scrub! The two flavours we are doing are Lovely Lemonade, and Brilliant Bubblegum (actually Strawberry.. but who am I to say its Strawberry)! Anyhoo. Lots of other teams are doing lip scrub, but between me and the 200 other you's, I think ours is best. If I had to describe the Lemonade flavour it'd probably be something similar to this: when you first put it in your mouth its like a BOOM of flavour, I guess, and before you know it your mmm, the mix of the sour lemon juice, and sweet sugar make it kind of AMAZING, but you know. Now for Bubblegum: The sweet pink flavour Bubblegum looks pleasing to the eye, you'll probably be doing a double take, and drop the stress ball your holding, but wait till you actually have it in your mouth, the perfect amount of strawberry bites through the sugar, leaving you dumbstruck with flavour and saying DELICIOUS! Now I'm gonna give you a sneak peek on some of my friends stands. First off Katrina and her group Epic Fat Marshmallow Chubby Ponies. Tongue twister, anyways, they are selling bath bombs, flavours are Mint, Natural Vanilla, Vanilla and the special Raspberry Bomb. Now for my good friend Sophie and her group the Rebel Rockets. They are obviously selling rockets, but not big ones, tinfoil and tea rockets! And they are quiet too so no scared pets! Now I can't tell you any more about their groups, and I have nothing more to say, so on that note I'll sign off.

Thank you guys for reading again my faithful Earth Aliens. Yes I named you guys, just like on YouTube, but anyways, goodbye my Earth Aliens and goodbye from the hooman people from Earth! Now before I go, look at the photo of me, I am the girl standing up with brown, short hair. BYEEE MY EARTH ALIENS!

Battle of the Mountains Play - PBL

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is…… where you come from, religions, traditions and celebrations!
Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I read…. Maui and the Sun, Battle of the Mountains, Hinemoa and Tutanekai and Tutanekai and the Bird Woman. I have written my own legend called The Legend of the Ice Dragon…

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script (I was one of them), some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Photo: My picture is this, i drew it on my Chrome-Book, so please do not judge it, y'know it is hard. Try it and you'll see!

Reflection:
For our production I contributed by… Ideas, and I was an actor (Ruapehu, one of the mountain kids), and I also wrote some of the script.

I think the show might impact on others by… showcasing different Maori legends is fun, and even if they may seem boring at the time, you can make them into amazing and fun plays and whatnot.

What I learned about working with others was… Even if you have an idea, and so do others and you don’t get a chance to share your idea, there might be another idea, similar, or better to yours!
