Lip Scrub Sells FAST!

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because… We (a) did research (b) thought it through (even if we had different ideas) and (c) there were MnM’s on the line

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this… LIP SCRUB!!! The two (delicious) flavours were Lovely Lemonade and Brilliant Bubblegum (yes the names are Cliche but they definitely lived up to their names). And this is a picture of our group, I am the girl who is crouched down beside the blonde girl (The other team members were shopping at the time and no, we did not pick our groups)

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was… Creating the lip scrub, it was very very fun and the best part was eating it at the end!

Next time I would… probably try and talk more I just played the music and went shopping at the other stands. I also think next time I would help more with the lip scrub flavours, I.E: help decide more on the flavours, help a bit more. But other then that I wouldn’t have changed anything.
