Poems!!

Hello my lovelies! Welcome to my new blog! Today is a VERY special blog! Enjoy!

I am going to share to you about my poem. So in reading we have been focusing on poems for our PBL. We read a poem and had to think about what we thought it was, because it didn't mention. This is called inferring. Inferring is when you don't specifically name what you are writing about, but give your reader a a vague idea. You can have multiple ideas on what it can be, which could create a tricky and interesting inferred poem. Then we had to create our own, based on an event that has happened in the past. Here is mine
My house looked bare, not much of a home, I felt so empty, so very alone.
I stepped foot outside for one last time, I guess being nervous wasn’t a crime.
We heaved the suitcases into the car, and I prepared myself for going quite far.
My heart skipped its way right into next week, and I bit back tears from rolling down my cheek.
The car started slowly, making its way down our drive, I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to survive.
I felt kind of woozy, thinking about what was lying ahead, my stomach was exploding with the feeling of dread.
I thought about my life, and my parents and I’s strife.
All the times we fought, and all the bad things I thought.
I thought we weren’t going to go.
All the times I’d said “Please no”.
They’d told me it would be ok, they said I’d like it, however maybe not somewhere, they did admit.
I’d left my whole life behind, it felt like I was walking into a room, blind.
I didn’t know what was going to happen, I just wanted to quit, but I’d have to learn to love this, just a little bit.
My emotions running wild as I see the highway, I wasn’t ready for that to happen that day.
I stepped foot outside into the warm, balmy air, and I still couldn’t see how this was at all fair.
All I wanted was to go home, and be held in my parent's arms, never alone.

This poem took me about two days, and there was a lot of confusion and even more of "wait... what?"s.

I really loved writing this poem. Now what do you think I was writing about? Tell me in the comments. Hope you guys liked reading my poem! See you next time! Bye!

Top Team 2019!!

Hello my lovelies! Welcome back to my blog! Today, I am going to tell you ALL about Top Team! Enjoy!

You might remember my last blog about Top Team. We did this activity called Top Team. Top Team is a P.E based group of activities. We had from Year 5 to Year 8 students participate. We had twelve activities, and five minutes to complete these tasks, with points varying between activity. We were put in groups, and had to move around the activities. Katrina, one of my close friends was in my group. We started with Gutter Ball. We had to connect pipes and get a ball down into the gutter. We also had two water based activities. My favourites were the Gutter Ball the Water activities and the Find-The-Way challenge.
One of the water activities was where you had to sit in a line, each holding a bucket, and the person at the front had to fill theirs with water and pass the water behind them, until the person at the back, tipper theirs into the bucket. Whoever had the most water in the giant bucket at the end of the game, wins. The other water based game, was you had to hold a pipe with holes, while other people fill it up with water, then at the end whoever has the most water wins. The next water based activity was when you had a whole pipe and it had holes in it. You had to hold the holes while someone else filled it with water. Then at the end you'd let go and get SOAKING. The Find-The-Way challenge was when you had to step on a square, the leader would say yes or no, if yes you could move on, if no you got it wrong and had to go back. I think we won three of those.
I had a really fun time at Top Team, even with a broken arm!

I hope you guys enjoyed! Have you ever done something like this? Tell me in the comments below! I hope you liked this blog! Bye! ❤️

Space Geeks! Episode 6! Our Planets (Part 3)

Hello my lovelies! Welcome to Part 3 of Our Planets! Today we are going to be learning about Saturn and Jupiter! Enjoy!

Lets start with Jupiter. Saturn is the fifth closest planet to the sun. Its year is based off of 4333 Earth days. Like Saturn, Jupiter is a gas based planet, and also the largest planet in the solar system. Jupiter is 11 whole times larger than earth. Jupiter's days are typically 10 hours, making it the shortest day in our happy little galaxy. Jupiter has four large moons, and multiple smaller moons. Did you know, Jupiter has small rings, that no one knew about? Jupiter has no major potential for life, so sadly we have to stick to Earth for now.

Now lets move on to Saturn. Saturn is a gas based planet, with the very famous rings. Saturn's year is 10759 days. Saturn is approximately 1501640284 km away from the sun. Saturn is the second largest planet in our solar system, and is the sixth planet away from our sun. Saturn has more than sixty known moons, each with a different name. Saturn is almost ten times larger than Earth itself, which is pretty crazy if we all think Earth is big. Aside from all these amazing things, Saturn is probably not a very good candidate for supporting life forces, so sorry to all of those amazing people who are huge Saturn supporters. No living there for now.

Now time for their descriptions! Yay!

I feel like Jupiter is going to be the one that everyone likes. I think Jupiter would be a male, and would be married to Saturn, because they are the gas giants :). I think that Jupiter is the really really smart one, and the kind of parent role. I think he would be the one that is always super happy, and is really, really tall. I think Jupiter's role as a leader really shines and he always makes good decisions. I feel like Jupiter would wear a plain red tee with jeans. I think that Jupiter's personality would be funny, playful, kind, amusing, caring, honest, crazy and compassionate.
Now Saturn. I think Saturn would be absolutely bonkers! I feel like Saturn would be a she, and she loves to party. She is a huge sleep in person, and loves coffee. I also think that Saturn would kind of be like a celebrity around the solar system. I feel like the planets would really like Saturn. She is a creative and funny personality, but Mars doesn't like her. I think Saturn's personality would be, creative, interesting, funny really smart, interesting and most importantly really caring and helpful.

I hope you guys enjoyed my blog! What interesting facts do you know about one of those planets? Tell me in the comments below! Hope you guys liked my blog. Bye! ❤️

Maths!!

Hello my lovelies! Hope you enjoyed my last blog! I am here today to tell you about an oddly fun maths create task! Enjoy!

We have obviously been doing maths this week. So during this weeks session, our focus has been doing relative frequencies. We were tasked with doing a maths game where we dropped a counter on a board that looked like this 100 times! I'll tell you more about it after the diagram
So like I said above, we had to drop a counter on it 100 times. None of us made it to 100, but most of us made it to 50. We had to draw out a table looking like this
Counter Drop  |   F  |
Inside              |
Outside           |
If a counter landed like this

It'd be considered out. If it landed like this

It'd be considered in. Then we had to tally how many times we got it in and out, fraction it, and turn it into a relative frequency. I am not finished this yet, but so far it has been really fun.

I hope you guys enjoyed! Random question, where exactly is Thailand located? Tell me your answer in the comments! I hope you guys enjoyed! See you next time. Bye! ❤️

Sport!

Hello my lovelies! Welcome back! Today I am going to tell you a bout sports! Enjoy!

At school this term, we have been doing sport rotations. We have done, korfball, lawn bowls, softball and cricket. I have only taken part in one of these activities, as I have broken my arm. I did lawn bowls. Lawn bowls was really fun! At the start, we had to choose a bowl. The bowls are small foam bowls, slightly larger than an orange. There were two colours to choose from. Purple, and green. You had to stand behind a cone of your bowls colour. There were four hula-hoops in the middle, that you had to roll your bowl into. We played a couple of team games before starting on the bowl course. We had a variety of different activities to do which were all very fun and challenging. My favourite one was when you had to throw your bowls into a hole marked with 100, 50, 20 and 10 points, and if you landed in one with one of those numbers you get that many points.

Anyways, I really loved playing lawn bowls! I think it was really fun and I would recommend it to everyone! Have you ever played lawn bowls? Tell me about it in the comments! Hope you enjoyed! Bye! ❤️

Attitude!

Hello my lovelies! Today we have a very unusual topic. Attitude. Let me tell you a bit about that. Enjoy!

Over the past two weeks, we have been taking a programme called Attitude. Attitude is a small group of people that talk to you about puberty. It was quite weird at first, hearing that we were going to partake in this, because obviously it is quite an awkward topic. But it actually wasn't too bad. The man that presented made it really fun. He made us all laugh and cringe together, but it was pretty funny at the end of the day. During the talk he pretty much told us about what changes we were going to experience with Hauora. Hauora is four different categories of our body, physical well being, mental and emotional well being, social well being, and spiritual well being. Our presenter told us that there was nothing to worry about though; these changes would develop our future selves, and turn us into adults. During the next session, we split into males and females. Our instructor, Emma was super funny and took all of the awkwardness away. We did a quiz, and she answered some questions. She told us a little more about changes us females would have, and that was that. On our most recent lesson, our teachers instructed us. We learnt more about our Hauora, and did an improved and unimproved list of things that would determine our growth. Here is mine

I think the Attitude programme so far has been OK. On a scale of one to ten (one being hate so much, ten being love more than anything), I probably rate it a five and a half.

Thanks guys for reading! I hope you enjoyed! What do you like to do in your spare time? Tell me in the comments! Anyways, see you next time! Bye! ❤️

Under the Sea! Reading This Week!

Hello my lovelies! How are you? I hope you are good! Today I am going to tell you about my reading create task this week!

So I was off sick on Monday and Tuesday with a cold. But I managed to get my stuff together in two days. So we started off by reading an article about sea life, and people. This article was about different ways Project Reef (a project on monitoring the aquatic life) monitor the sea life. They use four different methods of: Underwater Camera, Diver Transect Survey, Hook-and-Line Survey and Acoustic Survey. The Underwater Camera Survey is literally in its name. Divers put a camera in a reef to observe and report on the reef and its life. The Diver Transect Survey is when a group of divers go into a reef and swim around, capturing footage on cameras. The Hook-and-Line survey is where they pretty much go fishing, by catching fish, taking notes and setting them free again. Then they times the amount of fish they caught by how long they were there to get an answer. The Acoustic survey is where they install a device to pick up sounds from the sea life. Then we had to create a pros and cons doc. This was mine
Next, we had to choose our favourite method and mention why we thought it was the best, here was mine

I thought this session was really great! I really enjoyed doing this weeks reading task! I hope you liked learning about it with me too!

Thanks guys for reading this! I hope you enjoyed learning about the different methods used to do things like this. Have you ever been snorkelling? Tell me about it in the comments! I hope you enjoyed this blog! See you next time! Bye! ❤️

Space Geeks! Episode 5! Our Planets (Part 2)

Hello my lovelies! How are you all? I hope you are great! Today I am going to be showing you me next two planets, Earth and Mars. Remember last episode? When I did Venus and Mercury? Yep well this is the much promised next episode! Enjoy!

Lets start with Earth! Earth obviously is our home planet, third closest to the sun. A full year is 365 days, and it takes just over a year to orbit the sun. With four seasons, this makes Earth a unique and diverse planet. Earth owns one moon, has no rings, but makes up for being so lonely by keeping us all safe. Earth is the only planet in our Solar System that supports life, and holds water. Earth's core is about 6,000 degrees Celsius (10,800 Fahrenheit), and is one of the only planets that has full gravity. Neat!

Now, Mars. Mars is the planet that owns the biggest mountain in our solar system, Olympus Mons. Mars has had forty missions with different land rovers, but only eighteen have been successful. Did you know, Mars was named after the God of war? Crazy, right? Over the time Mars has existed, no rings have been recorded to surround lonely Mars, but one day, scientists say, Mars will develop those much loved rings.

Now, time for my view of each planet! Yay!

Lets start with Earth. I think Earth would be a female. She would be the one that most people like, her and Venus get along really well. I picture Earth to have really bright blue green eyes, she likes wearing green t-shirts and ripped jeans. I feel like she would wear light blue platformed shoes. I think she would be one of those people that wears one necklace everyday, that is really sentimental. Earth would be that one that gets bullied by some of the planets for having things living on her, but she is still nice to everyone. Earth would occasionally need time alone but she is mostly an extrovert. I think Earth's personality traits would be, kind, sweet, loyal, funny, gentle, caring, considerate, appreciative, thoughtful and helpful.

Next, Mars. I think Mars would also be a girl. Probably the one that is really funny. She is tiny but packs a punch. I think Mars has that one best friend, Pluto, who she would do anything for. Mars gets along with most people, but she gives herself a lot of chill time, alone, or with Pluto. I think Mars would be really feisty, and sometimes she can be annoying to the popular planets like Venus, Earth and Saturn, because they have no time for her. I feel like Mars would have a troubled past, maybe friendship issues. I feel like Mars would be fair skinned, have really long bright red hair, maybe be wearing just a plain black t-shirt and denim shorts. I also feel like she would have a checker jersey tied around her waist, and she wears converse. I think Mars' personality traits are, loud, kind, funny, crazy, sweet, kinda annoying, energetic, athletic and genuine.

Thanks guys for reading! I hope you enjoyed this episode? Do you know any interesting facts about one of these amazing planets? If so, tell me in the comments! Next time we will be doing Saturn and Jupiter. I hope you all enjoyed! Bye! ❤️

Camp!

Hello my lovelies! I hope you are well, welcome back to my blog! Today I am going to tell you about camp. Enjoy!

So last week, we went to camp! It was so much fun, apart from the fact that I fractured my arm! Crazy, right? Anyways the activities we did (in order) were: Orienteering, Raft Build, Kayak Singles, Search and Rescue, School Led Activity, Archery, Outdoor Living, Coasteering, High Ropes. They were all so fun! On the first day, we only did one activity, as we had walked up hills and through forests to get to camp. Throughout the day we did three activities. Raft build was my favourite. Most of the activities are explained in there name, apart from Coasteering. This activity is walking along a rock wall, but let me get into more detail. You have to climb down a really steep hill, holding on to a rope. Then you climb around a rock wall over the water. Then jump in. But the only part was, it was FREEZING! On the last night, we did a reflection on: Challenging, Favourite, Learnt and Grateful.
 These were my reflections.
Challenging:
I thought learning to tie knots in raft building was actually really hard! They were complex and quite confusing. It was super fun, but really hard too.
Favourite:
Lots! When a boy in our activity group fell in quicksand, that was really funny. I liked spending time with teachers, friends, my dad, and his friends.
Learnt:
I learnt how to make a homemade stretcher. I also learnt how to survive in the forest by telling trees apart.
Grateful:
For one of the parent helpers, for bandaging my arm, and also the teachers for cooking great food. And especially my dad, for how he helped me all the time.

Now if you want to see a picture of our camp, here you go!Image result for wainui ymca camp

Thanks guys so much for reading! Have you ever been on school camp? Tell me your favourite activity in the comments! Bye! ❤️

DELICIOUS! Mouth Watering Yum!

Hello my food appreciative lovelies! Welcome to an EXTRA special blog about food. Read me for a delicious recipe.

So remember that blog about Chapas? Yeah, well here is some more Spanish stuff... Patatas Alioli!
What is Patatas Alioli you ask? Well the English translation is Aioli Potatoes. We have been constructing delicious recipes from the hat country, all leading up to a big shared food day of delicious foods from all around the world. I know what you are thinking now, what is the recipe? Well I have just the thing for you, the recipe!

How to Make Patatas Alioli

Patatas Alioli - or Aioli Potatoes - are a traditional Spanish Tapas. If you love garlic, you’ll love this; the Aioli part is packed with garlic! Patatas Alioli is a delicious one-bite-appetizer, often enjoyed in the summer, but any time works too! Now, let's break up the words, Ali-oli, meaning garlic and oil, or modern day revision, garlic aioli! Patatas, meaning potatoes, the delicious root vegetable go great with aioli, so stop reading up here, and get down there for the instructions!

What You Need!
3-5 Potatoes
16 Ounces Olive Oil
Salt to Taste
Aioli Sauce (Home-made or store bought)
Small Sprig of Parsley

What You Need! (Equipment)
Frying Pan
Peeler
Knife (Parental Supervision Required)
Toothpicks (Optional)
Spatula or Slotted Spoon
Paper Towel
Serving plate
Bowl
Chopping Board
Small Dip Bowl
Spoon

Your ready to go! Hop down to see the steps!

Steps!
Start by taking your potatoes and peeling them with your peeler.
Once completed, wash any excess dirt or grime off of the peeled potatoes.
Cut your potatoes with your knife on your chopping board, into roughly 2-3 cm (1 inch) cubes.
Place your frying pan on the stove.
Add oil to the frying pan on a high heat. Please be careful, in case you burn yourself
Test to see if the heat is high enough, by placing a small potato cube in the pan. If it bubbles straight away, it is high enough, if it doesn’t bubble or you don’t hear a small sizzling sound, it isn’t done.
Place your potato pieces in the pan and fry until golden, about ten minutes. You may need to separate these, so you don’t crowd up the pan.
Prepare the bowl with a paper towel inside, to the side of your cooktop.
Once you have finished cooking your potatoes, turn off the heat, and use your spatula or slotted spoon to spoon out the golden goodness into your bowl with the paper towel
Set bowl to the side.
Take your dip bowl and spoon aioli into the bowl. Garnish with parsley
Using your spatula or slotted spoon, place potatoes on serving plate
Serve cold or warm to enjoy!

I really hope this helps you, and provides a delicious tapas for family and friends

I hope you all enjoyed my blog! What other tapas do you know? Tell me the recipe in the comments! Bye! ❤️

Who Knew?

Hello my lovelies! How are you? Today I am going to talk about reading create task! Enjoy!

Today I am going to be telling you about my reading create task. We had to read a story about a certain country, then create a similarities and differences between you and the main character. That was workshop one. In workshop two, we finished off our similarities and differences chart, and started on our interactive image. An interactive image is constructed on these components: symbol, title, facts, important parts and a link, but you can ignore that. My one looks like this, but others did really cool ones too!
My story was called Skiing in Afghanistan. It was about two main characters flying to Afghanistan to do a ski trip. It was very interesting learning about some of the cultural history about Afghanistan and its people. I recommend this book for all learning supplements, or just reading!

Thank you guys so much for reading my blog! What books to you recommend? Tell me in the comments! I hope you guys enjoyed! Bye! ❤️

Chapas! The Fun Spanish Game!

Hello my lovelies! Welcome back to the second post of the term! Today I am going to share my instructions on the game Chapas. Chapas is a fun Spanish game played with bottle caps, scroll down to find out some more!

Over the past few days, we have been learning about instructional writing. We had to pull a country out of a hat, and that country was the one we would make our instructions on. So in other words, we had to choose an activity from our countries we pulled out of the hat. Upon research, I found a game called Chapas. Chapas is a bottle cap game from Spain, where you flick a bottle cap around  a race track and try to win!
Here are my instructions on how to play:
How to Play Chapas!

Hello! Today I am going to show you how to play Chapas. Chapas is a fun game from Spain, played with metal bottle caps, although plastic works too! Follow these instructions and you will be playing in no time!
You Need!
  • Chalk
  • Bottle Caps (1 Per Player)
  • 2+ Players
  • Paper
  • Colouring In Pens/Pencils
  • Blue or Black Pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A Flat Surface

Your design!
  • Start by taking your bottle cap and tracing with the black or blue pen, the outline on the piece of paper.
  • Remove the bottle cap from the paper and write your initials, with the blue or black pen, inside the outline, and make sure it is near the bottom.
  • Next, draw a logo with your blue or black pen inside your outline, above your initials.
  • Then, you can start colouring in your design with your colouring pens or pencils, inside of the outline.
  • After you have completed your design, cut out the outline with your scissors.
  • With your cut out paper, glue the non-designed side to the inside of the bottle cap, and wait for the glue to dry.

The Rules!
  • On the flat surface, draw a track with your chalk, add a few twists and turns to make it more fun and challenging!
  • Each person takes their turn flicking the bottle cap with their thumb and middle finger.
  • If you get your bottle cap out of the race track, you lose a turn, if someone else hits your bottle cap, you have to go all the way back to the start, and take your turn then, but the fun part is, the same rule applies for the other players, so if you hit them, they go back to the start too!

And now you know how to play! Go have fun playing this on a warm day out in the sun!

I hope you all enjoyed my blog? What fun games do you know how to play? Tell me in the comments! Bye!
